Inspiration Anyone?

Even though my blogs don’t come up as often as they did in the beginning; my mind is still very often buzzing with ideas and thoughts that I would love to share. Sometimes, I have trouble expressing them and sometimes they seem like a repeat of things I have already said to all of you. Sometimes there are so many that I can’t seem to settle on just one. Then I stopped trying to think of things and started looking at what triggers all these ideas. And it’s incredible to see the inspiration around me. Obviously, G-d is the ultimate inspiration, seeing as He is the Creator and in everything we see, feel, and touch. He will always be the thoughts in my head, the words on my lips, love in my heart, and light in my soul. But I want to look deeper. Of this vast creation of his, of this entire reality that we are surrounded by, I ask myself, what parts of it pulls at my heart and stimulate my mind? As many of you can probably guess, one is the complexity and beauty of nature. The way everything works together so perfectly to bring a balance that it’s meant to have. A balance (might I add) that humans have slowly been destroying. The way a butterfly dances through the air. The way water pours down from the top of a mountain to the thirsty village below. The way certain plants and animal thrive in certain climates. The way that, at times, an animal can know of danger before it’s even laid eyes on it. The way crickets and frogs collectively sing at night, giving us a symphony to fall asleep too. I also have been getting inspiration from children too. The way they look at things. The way they interpret life. They way they learn. The way they love. The way that parents interact with them. Also, families and the way some interact much differently than others. There are current events that make me want to speak out. There’s even the courage of other’s in my life that make me want to say, think, feel, or experience certain things.

I could go on for quite a while, speaking of all this, but then I would lose my whole point of this blog. I really enjoy hearing what all of you have to say and watching you interact with each other. So I am going to pose another question for all of you to consider and hopefully respond too. What is your inspiration? It doesn’t have to be on an artistic or writers level either...I am looking for any inspiration. What inspires you to work, to live, to create, to smile....anything and everything! I am so excited to hear what you all have to say.

G-d Bless.

K

Hi K. My inspiration is definitely the rights of all human beings and the fight for their rights. My inspiration came from a woman known as Helen Suzman.
Between 1941 and 1944, Helen worked as a statistician for the War Supplies Board. In 1944, she started lecturing in Economic History at the University of Witwatersrand, a position she held until 1952, when she entered a nomination contest for a parliamentary seat in the 1953 election. She won the contest and represented the United Party (UP) in Parliament that year.

In 1959, 12 MPs, including Helen, broke away from the United Party and subsequently formed the Progressive Party, with an openly liberal programme of extending rights to all South Africans with a qualified franchise. In the general election of 1961, the Progressives were virtually wiped out, and only Helen retained her seat.

As the sole voice of South Africa’s oppressed, Suzman became known for her strong public criticism of the governing National Party's policies of apartheid at a time when this was unusual amongst white people. She found herself even more of an outsider, as she was an English-speaking Jewish woman in a parliament dominated by male Afrikaners.

In 1974, six colleagues joined Helen in Parliament and the Progressive Party was renamed the Progressive Federal Party. As a Member of Parliament, she was able to visit prisons, among them Robben Island, where she inspected the living conditions of prisoners.

Helen never shirked from raising unpopular issues. Visiting political prisoners was only one example; opposing capital punishment and arguing against the banning of the Communist Party and the banning and other restrictions imposed on individuals and organisations were others. In 1975, she tackled gender discrimination, especially discrimination against Black women.

Helen was a Member of Parliament (MP) for 36 years. She retired from Parliament in 1989, but remained actively involved in South African politics. She served as the president of the South African Institute of Race Relations from 1991 to 1993, and served on the Independent Electoral Commission that oversaw the first democratic elections in 1994.

For several years thereafter, Helen was a member of the statutory Human Rights Commission – clashing on many occasions with its then chairman Dr Barney Pityana. Suzman was at Mandela’s side when he signed the new constitution in 1996, and remained a much favored speaker. She frequently commented on issues in letters to the press.

The University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge and Harvard University (to name a few) have awarded her honorary doctorates for her anti-apartheid stance. Her struggle against apartheid also won her the United Nations Human Rights Award in 1978 and the Medallion of Heroism in 1980. She was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize twice.

In 1993, she published her autobiography, In No Uncertain Terms: A South African Memoir, inspiring her country and the world to recognize the injustices of the South African government. She also established the Helen Suzman Foundation to promote liberal democracy in South Africa.

On 7 November 2007, the nation celebrated Suzman’s 90th birthday. She died peacefully in her sleep on 1 January 2009 at the age of 91.

Well written K.
My Mother was my Inspiration.
“You don't get anywhere without hard work, hard work will get you to the top and will distinguish you from the rest”, she always said. A role model inspires, and motivates you to become something greater in life. As I stumbled upon barriers in my life growing up,I looked to my mother for advice and guidance. It paid off, and due to the love and respect I acquired for her, I can gladly say, that she was my role model and inspiration. Looking back at her character and personality, hard work is one of the qualities she has passed on to me.
I look at my family and see what she accomplished. Each of my siblings have a different part of her personality in them. Everything in her life, she gave her all. She taught me that there should be three things in my life that should always be important; G-d, family and hard work. What I admired the most about my mother, is that she raised eight of us, stood by my father in the business and still had time for others. My mother gave me the qualities that are hard to come by in this day of age, and I might not always have noticed how important they were, but I truly appreciate them now.

I am so blessed to have quite a few inspiration's in my life. G-d and His love for us alone is an inspiration. My parent's are both inspiration's to me. They helped me become the woman I am today. Their unconditional love and guidance continues to inspire me daily; and then of course, my beautiful children. Their innocent trusting love brings warmth and joy into my heart. Their laughter, their tears and the beauty of their growth in life is truly inspirational. G-d Bless you K.

G-d and everything He made is my inspiration. Watching how smoothly the tides come in and out; the sounds you hear on the waves. Perfection. He knew what He was doing. He inspires me to live everyday; live and learn.

I have so many wonderful people in my life that inspire me! G-d first; for everything He has done for me and the world He gave me to live in. My Dad and Mom for being the best parents in the world, my Uncles Gabe and Jayde for making me laugh so much and for teaching me so much; and lastly my grandparents for setting an example for us all to live by. They are so sweet and kind. You are also an inspiration K. You and J help us realise so many things. Thanks! G-d bless you both. :)

G-d, family, life, my career and my friends are all inspirational in their own way. You have looked around you and enjoyed all that you have seen and if other's will do that then they will also be inspired. If people will actually take time to listen or read something whole heartedly that will also make a difference. To be inspired is always a wonderful feeling and it does encourage us to inspire someone else. G-d bless you.

Mia nonna è la mia ispirazione. Alzò dodici di noi, mentre i nostri genitori lavoravano. ha sempre visto in modo che eravamo felici, vestiti e nutriti. Lei è una donna forte.

G-d, the Torah, my parents, my wife, my children, family and friends have all been big inspirations in my life. Having lived through the era of the holocaust, the struggles to become who we are today have all been inspirational in my life. My latest inspiration is my son and his will to keep going, to keep fighting to live. I remember his childhood and his stuborness. He was always very strong willed and now again, I see this in him.
